Amazing little insect repellent By Michael Savidusky I used ThermaCELL lanterns for the "Up North" and camping, with great success. Needed something for personal protection when they go (such as trips to the outhouse). ThermaCELL Compact bought and used it every night at the Oshkosh Airventure. Worked great! Belcher Jr. I started to read instructions and warnings and that sorta warned me that this can be dangerous. I read up on "allethrin" they use, and based on what I saw in many places, it can be quite toxic if not used correctly, which basically means not putting it in a closed room, I use it probably 4 or 5 times and today I am throwing it away. First, there is a "flint-gun powder" taste in your mouth when it is turned on. So mats seem to last only about half (or less) predicted the 4 hours. And when the wind blows, forget it works! Also, it takes 5 to 10 minutes to be used to chemically saturate the area for the best effect. Finally I've bitten a few times while using it. The good news is that I had read that the clean white distilled vinegar works really well. So I sprayed a thin layer of almost everything about my body because I tan moderately every day when I can. The area here in the suburbs are filled with mosquitoes, and I can eat within a few minutes outside. Well, I've been away for about 50 minutes and not a mosquito bite! Impressive! It has no smell overwhelming, and it smells really healthy I found my natural repellent ..... and I hope that this information is helpful. I follow up if anything changes. Read 4 reviews ....
