Cheney I somehow managed to acquire an infestation of lice (still have no idea how I have NEVER had lice before in my life -- but there's a reason why their a pest in EVERY country in the world not to mention they are immune to many of the common pesticides used to treat them) -- it was simply hell on earth. Don't know what was worse, the constant itching (cause they bite) or the rash/dry skin I gave myself with the endless amount of otc and home cures that don't work. I swear the majority of them are designed to see if someone will actually try them, like a hiccup cure... lol... At one point I think I heard the lice asking for more, this time with lime. lol. It's no laughing matter though, I'm just trying to keep a sense of humor through it all. After throwing out my bed, my bedding, my bed frame, my blankets, my pillows, my towels, and even some of my clothes I was about ready to just throw everything I ever owned in the trash... That was until I stumbled across Best Yet on the internet... I started to read about it, and more specifically cedar oil, and became quite hopeful. I bought it (gallon bottle), spent the extra $$$ (which wasn't as much as I thought it would be) for overnight delivery. It got here bright and early Saturday morning Halloween weekend (ordered it early afternoon on Friday)... Well I was all prepared for battle... I opened the bottle and it does smell a bit strong, but like cedar wood -- not anything truly objectionable or unpleasant. Armed with the spray bottle I bought the night before I poured some of it into it and proceeded to coat everything in my apartment with it... Every room, every nook and cranny... The corners, the computer, the carpet, the baseboards, the furniture, the tv, etc. Yes, I know lice crawl they do not jump or fly -- but I do have cats and their fur are like a magnet for everything so they had been carrying the eggs on the very tips of their fur (wonderful, right?) and then when they would shake or scratch those eggs would go flying... So to be safe I just coating everything. Anyway... That took about an hour or so -- again a bit strong of a smell, but it really did dissipate in a few hours... I also gave all my kitties a coating (boy they hated that), washed all my clothes and set them aside (for 2 weeks to make sure anything there dies), then finally gave myself a coating head to toe (including my hair), then jumped in the shower to hose off... All I can say is that did the trick. NO MORE LICE! I can't say a single other product did what this one did -- and I had tried a good majority of them. Best Yet is safe -- won't give you cancer (unlike a lot of the other products I tried). Safe to use on yourself, your pets, and all your belongings -- I am proof of that. My skin is a little on the dry side from it but then that could be from all the washing, scrubbing, and other products I have been using the past 3 weeks to get rid of these pests... I'm just going to moisturize a lot to resolve that... But again if you have ANY insect problem (it does get rid of over 70 different types of biting/flying/etc insects) USE THIS PRODUCT FIRST! I hope my walk through a nightmare can save others from having to live through what I did for the past 3 weeks. It was awful! But this product is the beginning and end to any search you may have... Thumbs up to it! Although you can buy a lesser quantity, I would recommend buying the gallon bottle -- cause you want to use as much as you have to to coat everything, don't dilute it. Better to spend $99 now and be done with the buggers that are making your life hell -- rather than live with them for as long as I did (again 3 weeks) or worse yet, longer! If you don't use it all up, it stores just fine and unfortunately at some other point in life you will have to battle

This year I tried to find more, but no one in town had them. So I am really glad I found them at Amazon. I am real susceptible to bug bites to where I can't really go out without being biten. But I don't have to worry with my patches. As long as I put one on at least 30 minutes before going out, like when I'm dressing, then I don't get biten by mesquitos. They also say that they last for 24 hours but I have been able to wear a patch and still get protection for three days and a little more. See all 1 customer reviews...

Lyn On the plus side, this stuff does smell like juniper, but I didn't buy it solely for fragrance. I wanted an insect repellent. Unfortunately, house flies love this stuff. They land right on the surfaces sprayed with it. Not only that, but it attracts a higher number of super smart bionic house flies. These are the kinds of flies that are smart enough to hang out on surfaces where they can't be hit at all, such as on electrical cords, and in between the cabinet door closures. Or if they actually land where you can hit them, you have to hit more than once with a fly swatter to kill them. I had nearly gotten rid of all the flies in my house with other products I used, and then I sprayed this stuff, and now I have a new proliferation of house flies. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Orange Guard, Inc. was formed by Carmel Valley resident and inventor, Tor McPartland, who was looking for an alternative to conventional insecticides. The inspiration for Orange Guard came from McPartland's desire to find an alternative to these insecticides which have the potential of long-term health and environmental dangers. It's fantastic for not just killing those bugs when they appear but I have used it around my kitchen sink and on the counter tops (without fear of the chemicals being around the food I eat) when I had an ant problem. Within a couple of days, the ants were gone for good. I have also successfully used it on roaches, spiders and crickets. It has a great citrus scent that almost wants to make you use it for air freshener (just kidding, but it does smell good!) Safe for super-smellers and pets By Tamara Thorne If you are chemically sensitive, have pets or children, it's likely you have problems with typical ant/bug killers, even "odorless" ones that claim they're safe once they're dry. Orange Guard has been my staple indoor pesticide for at least six years. I've tried other "natural" orange pesticides, notably one by Ortho available in stores like Lowes. Instant headache. My sinuses picked up the trace of petroliate so minor it's not even listed. (I inquired -- the nose knew.) Orange Guard has nothing but orange. My cats can blithely walk through the spray and while felines aren't citrus fans, they can proceed to lick themselves silly and nothing bad is going to happen. Natural products do not have the staying power of serious chemical pesticides and you can't expect them to. During the current heatwave, a morning invasion of ants through kitchen plumbing crevices is normal. I've been comparing Orange Guard with another natural insecticide (pyrethrins) via Safer Tomato & Vegetable pesticide. Pyrethrins is also considered safe for use around food and animals. The odor is minor, inoffensive, and causes no twitching of the sinuses. However, the spray will keep ants out only an hour or two when their invasion is of Normandy-proportions. Orange Guard holds up 6-12 hours. In normal usage -- when ants aren't as desperate -- it lasts several days and that's usually long enough for them to look for more friendly places to live. If you like citrus, the fragrance is wonderful, pure and fresh. Leftovers (year-old Orange Guard) should be used outdoors because the smell strengthens and becomes somewhat obnoxious -- just like aging oranges. But you can avoid that by using it as an air freshner or wiping your wood furniture with it. The slight amount of orange oil will make your wood happy. 12/7/08 -- While Orange Guard is unavailable on Amazon right now, it's easy to find. A number of hardware store chains carry it. It kills on contact, if you spray enough on the ants. When I sprayed and then later wipe off the excess, as the bottle instructed, the ants walked all over the counters within minutes. I thought it didn't work well. Now, I know how to use it. I spray all the cracks and crevices where they are coming in. I make sure plenty of it gets into the cracks. Mosquitos stopped bugging me By Bike Mike Maybe it's my animal magnetism or my charming personality, but I'm a mosquito magnet! Fortunately , this stuff does the trick for me. By Toni This product is a lure that is intended to be placed in the plastic jug shown in the picture. It is a refill for the jug, which serves as the "trap" that is described. I think they should make it more clear that you are just getting the refill packet. Anyway, if you follow the directions given, they seem to work well. I have three of them in my yard, filled with the swampiest water I can find. You can't use regular tap water and expect them to work. Give it at least a couple of weeks after you see mosquitos in your yard before expecting to see any inside. The mosquitos are attracted to it to lay their eggs after they have a blood meal, so it takes a while for the trap to work. It is only effective in getting rid of the female mosquito and her future offspring. I have opened the jug to find not only swarms of mosquitos inside, but on more than one occasion, a very well fed and happy frog as well! The mosquitos eventually die, because they can't find their way back out of the container. If you are trying to find a way to get rid of mosquitos and to keep beneficial insects around, give these a try. Simple and effective By Raven Kaldera I used Bug Off patches for most of last summer, and I'm definitely ordering more this summer. I live in a swampy area in New England, and we can get pretty bad mosquitoes and black flies here. When wearing it, I get very few (if any) bug bites when the bugs are driving other people crazy. My roommate is one of those people that mosquitoes just LOVE and she has found the patches about 80% effective. She uses them with a citronella spray (which isn't very effective for her by itself) and gets very few bites. It seems like there are a few people who these just don't work for, but they are so convenient that it is worth a try. They are easy to apply and you don't have to worry about covering every inch of you with spray. You don't have to worry about kids or pets licking it off their skin, or it washing off when swimming. The adhesive is just the right strength - they don't fall off but they don't hurt when you remove them. They do tend to leave a grubby adhesive outline that is hard to scrub off. Using this contraption instead of coating oneself in chemicals is certainly the future of bug avoidance. The problem seems to be, in my opinion, that the pouches that go in the machine are not made very well nor consistently. The first one that we used was doing nothing, and after several hours we noticed that the volume of chemical in it hadn't decreased at all. It wasn't working. We put a new cartridge in, and it worked great. Exactly as advertised and very effective against mosquitoes and other flying bug. The third cartridge was like the first. It was like it was clogged or defective. The chemical wouldn't get from the reservoir onto the little pad screen that allows it to be blown into the air. My guess is that there was a manufacturing mistake made with some quantity of the cartridges. If you get a good one it works great. If you get a bad one, it doesn't work at all. Based on how well it does its job when it is working correctly, I truly hope that Off fixes the problem before they give up on this concept. The Best Mosquito Killer and Repellant for Your Yard By kone I live in an area in Minnesota where mosquitoes are numerous and extremely bothersome. Since we have relatively short summers, I look forward to the summer season to enjoy the outdoors, but mosquitoes will literally ruin the summer season if not treated. In addition, mosquitoes carry West Nile Disease, and a dear friend several houses away contracted this disease while working in his yard. He was severely ill for months, and was lucky to survive. To protect my family, I decided to take my yard back from the blood-sucking, disease-carrying demoms. I first tried one of the mosquitoe magnet devices, Mosquito Magnet MM4000 Defender Mosquito Trap,but despite its great hype (and price!), it did not eliminated the biting tormentors. I then sprayed the yard with an application of Cutter Bug-Free Backyard. The results were stunning! For the first time in many summer seasons, the yard was virtually free of mosquitoes. I have been using this product ever since, and am quite satisfied with it. For me it works better than any other product I've tried. The best feature of this product is that it both kills and then repells mosquitoes and bugs. I have found that it lasts about 3 weeks maximum, and that is dependent on the weather. If it rains hard after applying the repellent, I know I will have to reapply the chemical to the yard. A light rain does not seem to affect the repellant quality. Although Cutter advertizes an 8-week mosquito-free period, this is entirely inaccurate; the product must be applied every 2-3 weeks for effective mosquito control The active ingredient is Permethrin. Permethrin is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic life, so if you have a backyard pond, avoid spraying this area. It is also highly toxic to cats, since they lick their fur and ingest the toxin. Cutter warns to keep all pets off the lawn until the application is completely dry. Spray the yard from the outside perimeter in. You don't want to get the chemical on your feet, as it will cause a tingling sensation (it is a neurotoxin and is classified as a "likely" carcinogen. There is also a link to Parkinson's disease). Wear heavy shoes or rubber boots when applying. Cutter instructions say to wet down the yard first, but I usually apply in the early AM when dew is still present. Avoid applying in windy conditions as you don't want this stuff blowing back on you. Cutter says to not apply more than 14 treatments per year. The product can be applied by simply attaching the nozzle to your hose and spraying. Spray every single piece of greenery possible, as well as the sides of dwelling, window screens, etc. The wider the perimeter, the better the control of mosquitoes. While there are risks in using any chemical, I apply the chemical carefully per instructions and avoid getting any on my body. Effective Repellent By Shepherd 2.0 These coils are designed to keep mosquitoes away via micro-particulate sensory disruption. The bugs don't like the smell. This product works extremely well for keeping the pests away. I've used the coils outdoors --low wind conditions-- but still outdoors and they work quite well. Mostly I use these while woodworking in my backyard (sounds like a fire hazard, I know.) and I've found these particular coils will help deter flies and gnats as well, though they're not 100% effective in that roll. As for the coil itself, it's like a thick incense stick (coil) that burns REAL slow. It gives off a pleasant odor (to me, anyway. 'Course I find paint thinner to be pleasant). It is a nice smell, though. The (2) stands included are made of thin, flexible steel. They hold the coils stably. woo. This product is overall an excellent stationary bug repellent. Frazier My uncle and I do a lot of hunting, and in the early bow season you just might get carried right out of your treestand without some sort of mosquito repellent. Doesn't Work For Our Family By Lisa I bought these wipes a month ago and used them every day for a week before tossing them in the trash. We live in a wooded environment and there are areas where water stands for awhile after it rains. Mosquito's are everywhere and our only break from them is during the Winter season. We've tried everything and the only two things that work for us are full coverage clothing and the dark green spray bottle of OFF Deep Woods Repellent. For these particular wipes, we used one wipe per person before going outdoors. Mosquito's began attacking us immediately. We returned indoors to use more wipes in case one wipe per person wasn't enough. The mosquitos still attacked. So we returned indoors to shower up and apply our anti-itch bug cream. I continued to go out every day for the rest of the week using these wipes and the same thing kept happening no matter how many wipes I used. My youngest is allergic to Mosquito bites so it's a big deal that we have a good repellent. She's been to the hospital for mosquito bites (how we found out she was allergic) and has to be put on antibiotics to prevent her skin from becoming necrotic. Our Pediatrician said that while there is a lot of debate on whether to put Deet containing products on young children, she suggests doing so carefully and properly which we have done. Once I tossed these wipes, I purchased OFF Deep Woods Repellent Spray. It's in a dark green bottle with an orange pump top. That product has worked excellent for us and my youngest hasn't been bitten. I think the idea of wipes is nice for a few reasons but we're going to stick with the bottle of spray. These wipes may work for others but they didn't work for us. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. love it more than other wipes By rawrrr i bought these last summer, and absolutely loved them because i never got a bite when i used it (i usually use 2 if i'm scantily clad). i live in texas, and mosquitoes LOVE to bite me. i'm slightly allergic, and the bites stay around for weeks, so it was such a relief to find this product. i like it much more than the spray bottle because i feel i can cover all of my skin. i prefer it to the off! brand of wipes because i like the smell better. this has less DEET than the 'off! deep woods' one, but i really dislike the super-strong smell of that one, and for normal use, 7% DEET is plenty. if you are in the woods, though, i would recommend products with more DEET. i use this for outdoor festivals and parties at night. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Great Product By inthewoods My two year old son is severely allergic to mosquito bites. Within minutes the bites open like a soar and begin to oozz. They last for days and usually leave scars so we need something to keep the msquitos away and these cutter wipes have been great. We live in a hot humid climate so we have mosqitos almost year around. Every time we apply the wipes he has stayed bite free. All Terrain - Kids Herbal Armor Outdoor Spray By jram I started using this product this summer, and I won't be going back to the DEET stuff. It works really well so far. If I put it on before a hike in the woods, I get no mosquito bites. If I forget to put it on, I get mauled and come back with a plethora of bites. AND it doesn't smell terrible. Alaskan Wildlife By anonymous I bought this bug spray to combat the amount of mosquitoes there are in the Alaskan atmosphere, and was pretty pleased with it. I especially liked the scent, which is citrus and zippy, much nicer than your typical lumberjack scented bug repellent. I wouldn't reccomend it to someone canvassing the rain forests, but it's a good basic repellent for daily use or picnics or something where you don't want to smell like you were coated in DEET beforehand. It comes in a cute metal bottle with a spray nozzle, but it doesn't produce a mist of spray, you'll actually apply this more like a handful of tanning oil or lotion, with your hand. 15 of 15 people found the following review helpful. review to keep the buggies away By K. Attracted Bugs AND Caused A Rash! By Optykal2 Well, to start, I want to say that I am a HUGE Burt's Bees fan, so when I was looking for an all natural bug repellent and found out they had one, I was very excited. Unfortunately, I really wish I had never bought it. Positives: -Scent: This has a really pleasant citrus scent to it that I really did like (however my husband though I smelled like I just sprayed myself in Pledge and he was NOT a fan, lol). Negatives: -It attracts bugs: What amazes me - having come on here to check out the reviews - is that people gave it 5-stars even after admitting it attracted beetles to them. That's astonishing really. Saying an insect repellent attracted bugs, and yeah, woohoo, go 5 out of 5 stars! Very bizarre. Ants seemed to be attracted to the scent and some black ants even bit me!! Beetles were also attracted to the scent - I felt like a giant walking insect sugar bait! -Rash: I looked around the net, including reviews on here (wish I had done that BEFORE using it, but always had positive experiences with all other products by BB) and a rash is a common result of using this. I have a nasty rash on my arms and legs now that itch intensely - it's much worse than a normal bug bite - and had do run out and get Benadryl and hydro-cortisone cream. Now instead of a few bug bites, I have bug bites AND a huge rash. -Oily: This is one OILY product. It's really quite disgusting how slimy and oily it is. I realize it's made with many oils, but it seems they needed to adjust the mixture if the end result looks like you just took a bath in oil. In addition, because of the extreme amount of oils in it, I also ended up getting some acne from it as well, even on my shoulders and upper arms, which is VERY abnormal, that never happens to me. So if you are someone prone to acne, DO NOT use this product. Ditto if you have sensitive skin. -Doesn't Spray/Mist: While it shows that you can spray/mist it on, it really shoots out a thin, narrow jet stream that splatters and leaks. Because of this, you have to sit and rub it all over and it's easy to get on your clothes, permanently staining them. I ended up staining my favorite sweatshirt because of this stuff. Overall, this only get's 1 star because, a. you cannot give zero stars and b. I'm still alive, so I guess that's a bonus. By Christopher Toomey I've recently been told that being Green is the cool thing to do. So, knowing that, I am really trying to be 'greener' in the yard this year. Organic lawn serivce, organic insect control etc. and I thought, ok, lets surround the house with an organic 'barrier' to keep bugs out #instead of the usual pest company#. I noticed two large black ant colonies, one near the edge of the woods and another close to the house. I also noticed a tiny sugar ant colony in the walkway. With a menacing grin, I sprikled this stuff over both areas. Waited two days. Results? Ants were just fine. I grabbed the bag and said, "ok, suck on this" and literally DUMPED this stuff over the colonies. That should do it. NOT! (yep, used not right there). Went back out today (about 3 days later) and the colonies have actually gotten bigger. (I also think I saw an ant with a computer, making me think this stuff has potentially made them smarter). To recap: Pros: Nice bag. Has a kid and a dog on it which is nice. Smells great and indeed made me feel cool when I put it in my cart at Home Depot. Cons: Turns ants into smarter, faster breeding machines with an undying determination to take over your yard. (And perhaps steal your wife and car). Overall: Clearly they are making this from the leftovers at a spice factory. Peanuts and ineffective By Wix For anyone reading this that has a child with nut allergies please be aware that my smaller package stated that it contained peanut hulls. Now perhaps some parents are in that comfort zone but with my DD's allergies I certainly am NOT seeing how she reacts to airborne peanut particles. I also found these to scatter too easily to become effective, require WAY too heavy an application to make them economic (2 foot swath? are you kidding?) and they are so light the wind can blow them away. My solution was to use Woodstream Poison Free ant and roach killer which kills on contact. These did not. The reason is simple. The mint oil is not drenched into the hulls enough to provide an instant kill. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Works great on Fire Ants and Chinch Bugs By nan Works great! Home Depot sells Ecosmart products. We use to use Best Yet (has a strong cedar smell and at 29.00 a bottle was too expensive) but Ecosmart is a lot cheaper and works just as good if not better. It is safe around children and pets that is why we tried it. We also use the Ecosmart spray outside, in the garage and on the porch only. When you spray a bee with Ecosmart it's died the moment the spray hits it. JUST DON'T SPRAY IT INSIDE or you will have to leave your house for a while. Has a strong cinnamon smell. It smells great outside. We also use the Ecosmart granules for lawns for fire ants and chinch bugs. Works great and it's pet friendly. Also organic which means a lot to me. I personally don't mind the smell it's a strong cinnamon smell, if you use the spray inside just don't spray too much. It's like a strong air freshener. With the granules if you use them for fire ants you have to put 2 applications and the ants are gone and never return. It rained after so I don't know if that helped the problem but they are gone.
