Description: Spinosad is a relatively new insect killer that was discovered from soil in an abandoned rum distillery in 1982. Produced by fermentation, Spinosad can be used on outdoor ornamentals, lawns, vegetables and fruit trees, to control caterpillars, thrips, leafminers, borers, fruit flies, and more. Spinosad must be ingested by the insect, therefore it has little effect on sucking insects and non-target predatory insects. Spinosad is relatively fast acting. The pest insect dies within 1 to 2 days after ingesting the active ingredient. Will not persist in the environment. Sunlight and soil microbes break it down into carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. Classified as an organic substance by the USDA National Organic Standards Board. OMRI Listed for use in organic production. Controls Moth and butterfly larva including Gypsy moth, codling moth, leaf miners, bagworms, tent caterpillars, borers, thrips, Colorado potato beetle larva, leafrollers, webworms, armyworms, sawflies, gall midges, whiteflies, stinkbugs, harlequin bugs, squash vine borer, fruit flies and more. Application Recommendations: MIXING AND APPLICATION (Shake well before use.) MONTEREY GARDEN INSECT SPRAY may be applied with trigger sprayer, hand-held, backpack, or hose-end sprayers. Use a hose-end sprayer that can be adjusted to provide a dilution ratio of about 2,0 fl. oz. (4 Tbs.) of MONTEREY GARDEN INSECT SPRAY per gallon of spray. See Hose-end Sprayer Directions below if this product is packaged in hose-end sprayer. Add the required amount of MONTEREY GARDEN INSECT SPRAY to the recommended amount of water, mix thoroughly, and apply uniformly to both upper and lower surfaces of plant foliage. It is recommended to mix only as much spray as needed for a single treatment. In vegetable gardens it is recommended to use not more than 3.0 gallons of spray for 1,000 square feet of area.

Taylor This product was very effective in stopping all damaging pests while keeping helpful pests alive. The bees working my plants continued to work them without interruption. Spray the product at sundown and it will wipe out all the bad plant eaters. I applied two treatments. Had I known about this product earlier in the year I could have saved the majority of the squash plants I had to destroy because of multiple worm issues. Carter My daughter was getting eaten by bugs this summer; for some reason she's a bug magnet. I tried numerous sprays to no avail, nothing would last the whole day. She was at a pre-school where they spent a lot of time outdoors with gardens and tall grass, so I felt the situation was hopeless. I tried these patches out of desperation. Shockingly, they worked. Bug bites went down dramatically. Each patch stays on for a day or two and doesn't seem to bother my daughter at all. I put it on her back or waist and she forgets about it. The active ingredient is the same stuff used in dryer sheets. I did some research to find out if it's safe for kids, and as best I can tell, it's harmless. It has no noticeable odor, either. Much better and cheaper ways to control mosquitos By A Customer I bought two Liberty units a year ago - one died almost immediately with a fan failure, and the other just died recently for some unknown reason (it won't complete warm-up cycle). Warranty is out, so these look like they're going to be collecting dust in the shed until I feel like taking them apart and trying to figure out what is wrong.There's a much easier way to control mosquitos. Get a bunch of five-gallon buckets, put three gallons of water in them, add some dish soap, and finally spray some WD-40 on the water. Mosquitos will try to lay their eggs in the water, and will get stuck because the WD-40 breaks the surface tension on the water. The dish soap will take care of any larvae that do manage to hatch. Place the buckets around your property (high enough so that your dog doesn't drink the water - won't hurt the dog, but will give it diarrhea from the soap) and check them from time to time. You'll be amazed at the number of mosquitos that get caught. 137 of 141 people found the following review helpful. My two cents By Lance Douglas I purchased this unit in June from Home Depot. It took 2 hours to assemble (and I'm pretty good at assembling things). It wouldn't complete the warmup cycle properly so I called their tech support line. The wait wasn't too bad for me but the result was that I had a defective unit. I opted to return it to the store rather than wait for the replacement. I complained to the manager about having wasted two hours and another trip to the store and he knocked off $25 bucks on the second unit. I complained because I had read several reviews from people that have received defective units and I think the dealers need to get a message that customers are not happy with quality of the merchandise from this company. Anyway, second unit has been working fine. It did start catching mosquito right away and I noticed a difference within a few days. It's quite fun to check the trap each day to see how many of the little blood suckers are in there. It is hard to get an accurate estimate because the do bunch up and dehydrate but you can see several still buzzing around inside the net and you can point at them and say - HA! For me, the results are proven by less mosquitoes biting or flying around me so I don't worry about counting. My other complaint about this thing is cost. You're dropping a pretty penny for this unit and then don't forget to add on the cost of the tank and the propane - another $40-$50. The propane lasts for 21 days and then you have to refill the tank. You are also suppose to replace the octenol cartridge which run you $20 for 3 (that's less than a three month supply), plus they tell you to buy CO2 cartridges (3 for $10) and run that through the system every second tank. So, doing the math, say a tank refill every 21 days runs you $15 (and that's cheap right now), $7 every 21 days for octenol, $1.50 for CO2, plus electricity - you're looking at upwards of $25 every 21 days in extra hard costs to keep the thing running. That's $35-$40 a month if you like to break it down that way. With that said, if that doesn't scare you off then give the unit a shot. It does make a difference. I won't say there are no more mosquitoes or no-see-ums but I can regularly go out in the yard for a few minutes and come back inside without any bites when before that would not have been possible. It's just hard for me to believe this company charges so much for this thing and then half of them don't work. They are mostly under control, but once in a while there will be a small outbreak. I try to combat them right away to make sure their numbers stay small. I really don't like using dangerous chemicals, and I used to simply pour boiling water on the mounds. This worked great, but I always worried about accidentally pouring boiling water on myself. This product has changed that. A soil drench with 4-6 ounces per gallon of this stuff will kill any fire ant in comes in contact with. I generally have to douse a mound 2-3 days in a row to get a complete and utter kill, but I feel much much safer this way, and my wife loves how the yard smells when I'm killing fire ants. 23 of 23 people found the following review helpful. Orange oil By Fawn Caldwell I used this to make a natural weed and spider killer. I mixed 2 quarts of white vinegar with a teaspoon of liquid dish soap along with 1/2 cup of the orange oil. I put it in a big sprayer meant for such things and applied it to the weeds. It worked well for small weeds but not the larger ones. It killed not only the bad bugs but the good ones as well. It never killed any spiders either. I was not happy with how bees were drawn to this because of the smell and were killed nearly instantly. I will NOT use this again to kill weeds or anything else as I do not want to kill the bees or any beneficial bug. Great for a natural product By 3stardogs This isn't as powerful as the heavy chemicals you can get, but it works fabulously for a natural product. I use it on both myself and my dogs and the bug repelling properties seem to last for about and hour or 2 before needing a reapplication. They all died within 2 weeks. I sent and e-mail explaining my situation. The voice asked for pictures of plants, which I immediately sent. After much back and forth emails with an employee Hirt (name never given), he / she asked what brand of soil that I bought and where I bought it. I responded with an "organic potting soil mixed with sand that I bought at Lowe's." Ideally their response was they do not recommend the floor Lowe. There were no instructions for the type / brand of soil required on the Site or closed with the plants when they arrived. I bought the same land that I always buy and add the sand to help Airat to prevent root rot. The pot has adequate drainage and full sun plants obtained. I have sprayed as recommended. When I finally called to speak with a human, she said she would have to speak with someone else and call me back She called just a few minutes later and said that the person she spoke with "told you that you picked the wrong soil" and "the only thing you can do is ship the plants back to get your money back." I agreed to do this, but told them that I felt it was unprofessional to expect customers to know if they recommend or adivise against a specific soil/product. I also told them that I shouldn't have to pay to ship dead plants in order to receive a refund. I have yet to hear if they will be refunding the shipping charges. (Had I not paid over $40.00 for the products I probably would have just let it go.) I try to support small businesses as opposed to large corporations whenever possible. OUr golden gets ill with chemical flea and tick meds and we have tried everything and nothing safe ever has worked. Within 2 days of putting the tags on her, we noticed more fleas which I think was the fleas jumping off the dog in their confusion from the magnets/tags. Harris I have had these on a large dog and small dog for 3 weeks now in addition to generic monthly flea and tick medication. My small dog had fleas on just the flea and tick med so I thought maybe I would try the Shoo tags. His fleas are definitely gone. I thought it was a great idea to try out one of these sonic watches - especially for those cocktail/dinner parties in the backyard or around the pool. This did nothing. In fact, I watched mosquitoes land right next to it, on my arm, when it was on. And, don't be fooled, you can kinda hear it, depending on how good your hearing is. However, after saving my roses twice, it deserves it. Kill all the annoying bugs, and being a 3 in 1 product that helps reduce plant maintenance would otherwise be difficult (roses are susceptible to many things!). I (should not) neglected all this summer and in September it looked like they were on the brink of death (there were some pest and disease identification). In fact, I thought not revive, but I tried anyway. I pruned and sprayed them (always use safety goggles and gloves, safety first) and next thing I knew they were growing strongly again, even in the making. I had my doubts when I bought it, now I'm on my second bottle. The only downside I know of is the 'good' bugs that can be killed by it, and possible danger to other wildlife This can be helped a bit by spraying directly as much as possible on the leaves/stem, and spraying sparingly. Oh yeah, and it smells bad, but that's only if you smell it directly which would be a pretty stupid thing to do. I never had to use it on other flower plants though, but for roses this is a must have. (However it can't prevent or kill rose viruses and bacterial infections!) As for questions about the odor: I don't know about indoors. I only used it outside. Sorry. But then again, if you're growing your roses indoors, it's very unlikely to get diseases and pests. Just spray down all exposed soil on your houseplants The bottle says to keep applying every 7-14 days, but it worked for me in one treatment. The gnats started to dwindle in a few days and were gone within two weeks. I used this in conjunction with the Fly Web fly trap - the trap caught the majority of the adult gnats, and Garden Safe killed the larvae living in the soil as well as their fungus food source. 7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. not really safe By K. It may be all natural and approved for organic gardening but if I have to rinse my hand for 15-20 minutes under running water if I get a drop of it on my skin, that is not a good sign If I could return it, I would. I think the seller of the product should provide some of this MSDS info on the web page to help provide a more informed decision, if I was at the store buying it I would have read the label and not purchased it. I'm not sure what the problem is with DEET-containing products, but I always feel greasy when I use them and they irritate my eyes, nose and mouth. This does not happen with Natrapel. After it dries, you can hardly tell that you have it, but it's very effective. When walking with friends / family, I have seen them jump on and sign immediately jumped out. I have a real phobia of character - especially since deer ticks are so widespread and I have some friends (and their pets) with chronic Borrelia infections from them. In our area of ​​Eastern and Central PA is a huge increase in Lyme disease in recent years, which can cause havoc in the body. My family and I were camping last weekend and we all used Natrapel. None of us were bothered by mosquitoes or ticks. One caveat is that you must use every part of your body, for example, if you use it on your body, but not on the face, the mosquitoes attack your FSCE or other area where the body was not used. Overall, it is so superior to products containing DEET, it is worth finding snd buyinng. At least in our area, it is difficult to find, but you can find online and is well worth the time and effort to find and buy, even if you have to pay extra for delivery.
